Apollo City Electric Scooter Review

The Apollo City is among the newly launched Apollo electric scooters, and it joins a long list of other premium electric scooters from the Apollo stable. It’s a mid-level option that sits right behind the heavy-duty Apollo Explorer and a step up to the light-duty Apollo Light electric scooter.

With a motor rated 600W, with a maximum output of 800W, Apollo City isn’t quite powerful for heavy-duty riding, but it’s an excellent fast, long-range commuter.

However, is this model, along with all its features, the right electric scooter for you?

Apollo City Electric Scooter Review- Who is the E Scooter For?

Apollo City is a mid-level scooter, so it’s a great option or the intermediate riders, or those who are slowly transitioning from the beginner levels.

It’s also a great option for those who simply need to take a casual ride, maybe to and from work.

The range of the Apollo City is also quite reasonable at 28 miles on a full charge, and so, it may make a great option for those who need to commute for longer.

Apollo City Electric Scooter Review- Who is the E Scooter Not For?

The 25 miles per hour speed is great, but if you’re an experienced rider yearning for more speed, then the Apollo City might not be the ideal option.

Secondly, if you plan to take your ride off-road to the uneven and rugged terrains, the Apollo City Electric Scooter might also not be a suitable option for you.

Apollo City Electric Scooter Review-Features and Benefits

Design

Apollo City Electric Scooter Design

Overall, the build quality of the Apollo scooter is good.

Most of the scooter componentry, including the stem, handlebars, and forks are built from forged aluminum.

In general, the aluminum construction promotes strength, and you can expect the Apollo City to take the falls and hits without compromising its structural integrity.

More importantly, the aluminum construction enhances durability, and therefore, you shouldn’t be worried about the scooter breaking down anytime soon.

A water resistance rating of IPX4 further bolsters the ruggedness of Apollo City. The water resistance won’t allow you to submerge your scooter in water, but it can tolerate light rains and splashes.

Portability

Apollo City excels in portability, thanks to the folding mechanism that downsizes the scooter into a 43” by 15” package.

The stem has two folding mechanisms: one allows the stem to telescope up and down, while the other lets the stem fold parallel to the deck.

The portability of Apollo City is further enhanced by the relatively lightweight of 39 pounds. So, unlike the hefty electric scooters, Apollo City is easy to lift and won’t fatigue you even when carrying it for long distances.

Deck

Apollo City has a spacious deck, which provides 19 inches by a 7-inch standing room, offering more foot space for greater comfort.

At the same time, the generous deck space offers more space for performing tricks with your scooter.

The base of the deck also has a grip tape for providing traction and ensuring you don’t slip off, even when the deck is wet.

Tires

Apollo City Electric Scooter Tires

The Apollo City features dual 8.5-inch pneumatic tires.

They’re wide enough to promote a smooth rolling, while at the same time avoiding getting stuck in potholes.

The wide tires also enhance the overall stability, so they enhance your handling performance and cornering.

However, the biggest benefit of the pneumatic tires is their ability to absorb the unevenness of terrains, thus promoting a smoother ride, with less bumping and shaking.

Also, considering they’re air-filled, they help with the suspension and tend to stabilize themselves.

Another benefit of these tires is they achieve better performance in the wet terrain as the rubber is supple and offer better traction.

Unfortunately, these tires are prone to getting flat, so we recommend adding a tire sealant to reduce maintenance costs.

Suspension

Apollo City Electric Scooter Suspension

The double suspension system consisting of a spring suspension in the front and a hydraulic suspension in the rear provides consistent handling and braking.

The suspension controls the Apollo Scooter’s bounce, rolls, and sway, and altogether, you’re guaranteed a smooth ride.

Unfortunately, despite the dual suspension, the Apollo City isn’t built to handle the rugged terrains.

Brake

Speed is important for an electric scooter, but braking is equally essential, especially if you need to come to a grinding halt.

Both the front disc brake and the rear drum brake promote a near-instant halt.

According to the manufacturer, the electric scooter has an awesome braking distance of a measly 10.1 feet.

Away from their performance, both brakes are seamless in their application, and they feel relatively smooth.

Motor and Range

The 600W brushless motor with an 800W peak output on the Apollo City delivers an impressive speed of 25 miles per hour.

At the same time, the acceleration is equally impressive, with the manufacturer claiming it can reach 15 miles per hour in just 4.1 seconds.

While it’s not the highest speed we’ve come around, it’ll let you keep up with a majority of other cyclists as you like.

The range is equally impressive, thanks to the 48V 13.2aH battery.

Apollo City has a decent range of 28 miles.

Even better, the battery boasts of a smart power management system for optimizing the overall battery performance, while at the same time keeping you safe from common battery failures such as short circuit, over-voltage protection, and under-voltage protection.

With such a performance-oriented battery, you might think it takes longer to charge. To our surprise, however, it only takes approximately 5 hours for a complete full charge.

Apollo City Electric Scooter Review-Conclusion

The Apollo City is a mid-level electric scooter offering plenty of benefits.

For the price, the performance is quite impressive, and so is the overall reliability of the scooter.

If anything, I don’t think there’re electric scooters within its class that offer a similar performance to what Apollo City provides.

And in my opinion, the scooter is worth every penny and a true value purchase.

Is the Apollo City Pro worth it?

The Apollo City Electric Scooter is definitely worth every penny of your money. With rapid charging, regenerative braking, and user-friendly controls, this e-bike proves to be an ideal eco-friendly commuting option. Nevertheless, it leans towards the heavier side, which may not be suitable for individuals seeking a more lightweight scooter for portability. Yet, in terms of riding comfort, the Apollo City stands out. Displaying meticulous design and craftsmanship, this scooter ensures a seamless and comfortable riding experience.

How fast does Apollo City go?

The Apollo City e scooter can reach up to 27 mph (single) or 32 mph (dual), allowing for swift and exhilarating rides.

What is the range of the Apollo City scooter?

The E scooter has an impressive range of up to 40 miles (single) or 43 miles (dual) in eco mode, ensuring you can go the distance.

Is the Apollo city scooter waterproof?

While Apollo Scooters offers an IP Water Resistance rating for all of our scooters, we do not recommend riding in heavy rain/snow and puddles/deep water.
