Well, in this article, we’ll answer some of your most asked questions about the e-bike brand like how fast can rad power bikes go? Top speed of each model to bring out the speed demon inside you.
How Fast Can Rad Power Bikes Go
In general, Rad power electric bikes programmed for riding in the US can reach top speeds of 20 miles per hour (32 km/h). Units sold to EU countries have their speeds revised lower in compliance with e-bike laws in the region.
Rad power e-bikes in the EU can only travel as fast as 15.5 mph (25 km/h).

How Can I Make My Rad Power Bike Faster?

That a Rad Power e-bike has a top speed of 20mph doesn’t mean its motor cannot propel it past that speed. In most cases, something called a “speed limiter” restricts the flow of current to the motor once this speed has been reached, preventing the bike from exceeding that limit.
However, as we’ll discuss below, there are ways to hack this speed limiter and make your electric bike go faster.
How to Increase the Speed on Your Rad Power E-bike (or Other Brand of E-bike)
1) Modify the Bike’s Speed Settings From the LCD Device
First, you want to switch the LCD on. Hold the center mode button to power the device on.
Then access the bike’s advanced settings from the main menu interface by pressing and holding the “up” and “down” buttons simultaneously until you see the wheel’s circumference displayed on the screen.
Now, press the “mode” button to switch to the bike’s speed settings. Use the arrow buttons to increase and decrease the bike’s speed limit accordingly.
Rad Power electric bikes designed for riding within the US come preinstalled with a 32 km/h speed limit (20 mph). Riders can increase this limit up to 40 km/h or 25 mph.
This trick should work on any electric bike with an LCD display similar to Rad Power Bikes display.
2) Decrease the Bike’s Wheel Size
Smaller tires require more rotations to cover the same linear distance as bigger tires. So, when you reduce a Rad Power e-bike’s wheel diameter from the display device, you’re essentially tricking the speed calculator into believing that even though the wheel is rotating faster, the bike isn’t covering as much distance as it actually is.
This should help you exceed the speed limit as the speedometer will allow for more wheel rotations per minute. Using this hack will disrupt your e-bike’s speed calculations so you might need a different meter to read your actual speed.

How Do You Take the Governor Off a Rad Bike? Is There a Speed Hack?
Photo credited by radpowerbikes
A “governor” is a setting that keeps an e-bike’s speed restricted to a pre-set level. For most Rad Power electric bikes, riders can hack this feature by blocking off one of the connectors in the cable that runs from the controller to the motor.

Pull both cables (the one from the control box and the one from the motor) apart and locate the six connectors spread throughout the circumference of the motor cable’s outer shell. The YouTube video linked below should help you identify the connector you want to cover with electrical tape.
Note that using this trick to derestrict your Rad power electric bike could void your warranty. There are other ways to hack the speed limiter on your electric bike.
As mentioned earlier, you can tweak your e-bike’s speed settings to go faster or you can reduce the default wheel size on the bicycle’s display device.
