Complete Breakdown of the Brawn All-Terrain Electric Bike Review

Motor and Power

Brawn All-Terrain Electric Bike: Motor and Power

The Brawn All-Terrain e-bike comes with a high-capacity 750W brushless motor and a speed of up to 28 mph. This is probably more than decent, as noted during our testing. We felt adequate power on both low and high terrains.

Being a class 3 e-bike, the high-speed motor equally comes with 3 riding modes and 5 levels of pedal assist. You’ll also find an industry-grade Shimano-7 transmission which helps the e-bike blaze on practically any terrain. So far, no complains about the Brawn All-Terrain in terms of its power and speed levels.

Range

Brawn All-Terrain Electric Bike: Range

The Heybike Brawn brought some exciting new features to the table. However, one of the most impressive specs was its long-range capabilities. Going by the brands’ other models, the estimated max range has somewhat been between 30 and 55 miles with or without pedal assist.

However, the Brawn All-Terrain e-bike stepped things up to a whopping 45 miles with throttle, and 65 miles with pedal assist. This is certainly the kind of upgrade many may like to see, especially since it means more time on the road and less charging hours.

Speed

Brawn All-Terrain Electric Bike: Shimano 7-Speed

As mentioned above, the Heybike Brawn is a class 3 electric bike with estimated speed levels of 28mph. It comes with 7-speed levels for users to enjoy, which is great since not everyone wants to ride at blazing speed.

So far, users have little to say about the speed levels. However, it’s important to note that most class 3 e-bikes are prohibited from regular bike paths in some states.. So, if you’re purchasing a class 3 longe-range e-bike like this one, it’s more for adventurous off-road rides rather than commuting.

Weight and Net Weight

Brawn All-Terrain Electric Bike: Weight and Net Weight

It’s so important to know the self-weight of any e-bike you’re purchasing. This goes a long way to determine if it’s an e-bike that can easily be carried around or not. First of all, let’s put it out there, the Heybike Brawn is a heavy-duty bike, from the robust frame to the fat tires. It weighs about 78.3 lbs which is about 35kg.

So, it may not be the best e-bike for lugging or carrying around without a vehicle. But on the bright side, it may practically be harder to steal, right? Plus, thanks to this beast of an e-bike, the payload capacity stands at a generous 400 lbs, which is more than what a lot of e-bikes promise.

Performance and Acceleration of Brawn All-Terrain Electric Bike

Brawn All-Terrain Electric Bike: Battery

The Heybike Brawn’s 846Wh battery capacity provides a range of up to 65 miles with pedal assist. That alone, is quite impressive, but those are just numbers and facts right? We were more interested in the ride quality and general performance of the e-bike.

After taking the ebike through tough and brutal testing, it seems that the Brawn does live up to expectations. In general, the riding experience has been very comfortable with little vibrations or bumps thanks to the suspensions and shock-absorbing tires.

When braking at high speeds, the hydraulic dual disc brake system ensures a quick and stable stop, greatly reducing braking distance and providing a safer ride. The handlebars have a quick button that allows the seat height to be adjusted freely and conveniently while riding.

The motor has also proven to be a beast in terms of the level of torque it produces, which is excellent for users who love to glide through off-road tracks. Thanks to the gear levels, there’s a lot to leverage in terms of acceleration and power. Another impressive feat of the Heybike Brawn is its climbing ability.

It has been fairly easy for us to blaze through hilly terrains without encountering a drop in performance or lag from the motor. Going back to the battery, it requires just 4 hours of fast charging and comes with two charging modes. Since it’s a removable battery, it can be charged on or off the e-bike for convenience.

Design and Engineering of Brawn All-Terrain Electric Bike

Brawn All-Terrain Electric Bike: Design and Engineering

The Heybike brand has been known to stick to either step-thru or high-frame designs. With the Brawn All-Terrain e-bike, they chose a high-step frame suitable for people who range from 5’9” to 6’6” in height.

However, the seat’s height can be adjusted thanks to the upgraded hydraulic seat-post Heybike ingeniously included. All you have to do is lift the control button, which can easily be done even when in motion. For the look, it has this ‘motorcycle-style double shoulder design’ that’s definitely eye-catching.

Brawn All-Terrain Electric Bike: LCD Display

Looking at the innovative side, there’s a multifunctional control unit/LCD display available at the center of the handlebars. The display includes a battery indicator, odometer, speedometer, and pedal assistance power adjustment.

Additionally, the Heybike Brawn included a multi-choice taillight that comes with three different modes of flashing, steady and alternating lighting. However, we noticed a little malfunction with the head and rear lights. There have been a few complaints about the lights either refusing to go off even after turning the switch off or coming on by itself.

Tire and Suspension of Heybike Brawn All-Terrain Electric Bike

Brawn All-Terrain Electric Bike: Tire and Suspension

One of the major selling points of the Brawn-All Terrain e-bike is the upgraded hydraulic suspensions incorporated to reduce frame vibration on rough terrains. This has proven to work on both rough roads and hilly environments.

It also helps provide a better braking effect and improve steerability and stability on the road. The braking reaction is said to be at least 50% more responsive than mechanical brakes would have been.

As for the tires, the Brawn comes with 26” x4” fat tires that boast a strong grip and equally good shock-absorbing abilities. However, we think including mud fenders on the tires would be a lot more practical. Most users are sure to ride on muddy or messy terrains, and it just makes more sense to have mud fenders to keep excess dirt off the tires and reduce splashbacks.

Conclusion

Finally, the all new all-terrain electric bike, is definitely an upscale from its previous models. If you’re looking for a robust e bike for your next cycling adventure on the high hills, this electric bike is made for you.
